Berberis thunbergii 'Crimson Pygmy'

Deciduous. Leaves are bright red when new, maturing to bronzy red. Must have sun to develop color. Less than 1 1 /2' high and 2 1 /2' wide in 10 years. Zone 4.

Buxus sempervirens 'Suffruticosa'

True dwarf boxwood. Slower growing than species to 4-5' high, but generally clipped lower. Small leaves. Dense form and texture. Zone 5.

Euonymus alatus compacta

Dwarf Burning Bush. A dense twiggy deciduous shrub with horizontal branching. Twigs have flat, corky wings that disappear on older growth. Dark green leaves turn flaming red in the fall. Grows to 10.'  Zone 4.

Matures at 5-6 feet. Very nice red winter color.

Evergreen shrub. Moderate to fast growth to 10-15' high and wide. Leaves to 5" long, bright bronzy red when new. Cut branches excellent in arrangements. Resists mildew and heat. Zone 6.

PIERIS JAPONICA

Medium size mounding evergreen shrub. Glossy, flame red new growth changes to pink, cream, and then green. Large drooping flower clusters are white and borne mid-spring.

Medium size evergreen shrub with deep rose drooping flower clusters. Branching form is more upright than other Pieris varieties.

Exceptional plant with bright red new growth, compact growing habit.

This cultivar from Japan has black-red buds opening to very dark pink flowers. Habit seems to be more compact than 'Flamingo' or 'Valley Valentine'.
